MY EVERYDAY MAKEUP PRODUCTS
First, I rarely wear any makeup at home. I never wear makeup when I work out and if I have an event planned later in the day, I put on my makeup right before I step out of the house. In the morning my routine consists of my simple skincare steps and that is all.
I have normal to dry skin. I prefer water-based products versus thick and heavy ones. I avoid anything that's flaky and dry and instead opt for hydration and lightweight products. My skin undertone is red so I avoid anything with a yellow tone or my face will look - you guessed it - yellow.
With that being said, below are my favourite products. These are the ones that I use every time I wear makeup. I have repurchased them over and over again - simply because they work for me. Some are drugstore bought therefore they are cheap and others I get at Sephora for a high price. But when it comes to my face, I don't care about the cost. Quality wins, every time.
*Don't forget to always moisturize your face and put on lip balm before applying any of these products! It should always be the first step to your makeup routine. The following products are shown in order of application, for your convenience.*
1. MAYBELLINE MASTER PRIME PRIMER + BASE
Following my cream and lip balm application and before I start applying my makeup I put on a primer. I was never able to find the perfect primer. It always seemed to me like they all did the same thing and got the job done. So I opted for a cheaper option and love this one! It's a primer and a base and most importantly, it's really hydrating.
2. MAKE UP FOREVER ULTRA HD INVISIBLE COVER FOUNDATION
Back in school I never wore any foundation. I don't like heavy and flaky so foundation always scared me. I started wearing some just a few years ago when I discovered this one. It's been my favourite ever since. It's super light and offers amazing coverage. It really gives you that airbrushed HD look. I either use the liquid version or the stick and apply it with a beauty blender. I use the R370.
3. DIOR BACKSTAGE FACE & BODY FOUNDATION
If I'm in the mood I'll add on some contouring after applying my regular foundation. I use this Dior Backstage darker foundation for my contouring only. I either apply very little for a light shadow look or more product for that "photoshoot" extra cheekbone look. You can also use this foundation for your body, such as your legs and arms. I use 4.5W.
4. HOOLA BENEFIT BRONZER
One of my favourite products from this list. If I don't want to use foundation but just want some extra colour and a semi-brushed out feel, I use this bronzer. I feel like this particular bronzer really blends well with whatever your skin colour is.
5. MAYBELLINE FIT ME CONCEALER
After applying my foundation I use this concealer under my eyes, on my chin and I add a thin line down my nose. I don't apply any on my forehead (between my brows) because that's usually a dry zone for me. I use the "Sand" colour and blend it with a beauty blender.
6. ANASTASIA BEVERY HILLS MODERN RENAISSANCE PALETTE
This is my regular everyday use palette. It's a neutral palette that has great earthly colours. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows because they are super pigmented, so a little goes a long way. The brush that's included is super convenient and blends really well. I use the Warm Taupe colour most often.
7. HOURGLASS VEIL TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDER
I use to use the Laura Mercier setting powder which is also great - but I switched to this one and I'm very happy with it. I use a little bit under my eyes to set the concealer and heavily under my cheekbones to accentuate the contouring. I also apply some on my forehead to remove any excess oil and shine.
8. SEPHORA COLOURFUL WATERPROOF LIQUID EYELINER
I always loved liquid eyeliner but use to buy the pencil sticks. It always dried out too quickly so it was a bit frustrating to have to purchase one every month. I decided to opt for one that you have to dip the tip into because they last longer and don't dry out. This Sephora one has been the best option for me because it has a soft tip that bends which I love, it lasts super long, works really well and doesn't dry out. Also, it's waterproof!
9. L'OREAL TELESCOPIC MASCARA
This mascara has been around for ages. You know why? Because it sells. It sells because it works and because it's good! I love L'Oreal mascaras in general. However, this one particularly is my favourite because it doesn't leave any clumps, it separates all your lashes perfectly and makes them look longer. I also find overpaying for an expensive high end brand mascara is just a waste of money. Why pay 25-30$ for a Dior mascara when you can get a cheaper one for about 12$ that does the job even better?
10. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS DIPBROW POMADE
I've been using this for years. I started off with the pencil version but found it finished too quickly so it wasn't worth the money. If you don't mind using a thin angled brush to do you eyebrows, I highly recommend this pomade. I use the Ebony shade.
11. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS PRO PENCIL
I use this pencil right under my brow line once I finished doing my eyebrows. I use the light Base #1 shade.
12. LANCÔME BLUSH SUBTIL MIEL GLACE
I love blush. I always add some to my cheeks and the middle of my nose for a more youthful look. This is my absolute favourite one because it gives me a more natural pinkish hue. It does't overdue the pink accents and blends really well with my skin tone. I use the Miel Glace shade.
